16th & Burnside Mid-rise Residential
16th & Burnside is a mid-rise apartment building situated by one os the busiset streets in downtown Portland. This project not only emphasizes high housing standards and structural integrity but also strives to enhance residents' quality of life by promoting access to transportation, communal recreational spaces, and business opportunities.

The design began with two rectangular volumes aligned with the existing street grid and adjacent buildings. A central section was then removed to optimize lighting conditions, transforming the space into a courtyard that links the bustling Burnside Street with the more serene SW Alder Street, offering tenants enhanced privacy.
